Statesmen get Third Sweep of the Season against Shawnee

April 20, 2022, The Statesmen faced Shawnee in the first game of the series and the team put up an impressive effort, run ruling their opponents 12-2. Colby Morse, Jack Beverly, Ben Brombaugh, and Krayton Morse all scored runs, with Oscar Pegg and Brayden Fraasman also contributing. Collin Sweeney, Grant Palmer, and Sammy Kestranek delivered impressive performances, scoring two runs apiece. In this game, batters were set to face Jake Lynch.

On April 22, 2023, the Lincoln Trail College baseball team traveled to Carbondale to finish the series against Shawnee Community College, and what followed was a captivating display of skill and determination. In an impressive feat, Lincoln Trail College run-ruled Shawnee in seven innings, winning 13-3. Grant Palmer, Krayton Morse, and Jack Beverly each scored two runs for Lincoln Trail College, while Colby Morse, Curtus Moak Jr, Ben Brombaugh, and Colin Horneman all scored one run each. However, Brayden Fraasman, who scored a staggering four runs, extending the teams lead even more. But the excitement didn't end there - two of the team's 13 runs were home run hits. Freshman Brayden Fraasman hit one of them, and sophomore Krayton Morse hit the other. The Saints faced pitcher Drew Fieger.

With Lincoln Trail already claiming this series, one more game remained between the Lincoln Trail and Shawnee. The Lincoln Trail College baseball team did not disappoint, securing a third victory against their opponents. Lincoln Trail College won 14-0 in just six innings. The team's impressive performance was fueled by an array of individual runs from several players. Nathan Wieber, Noah Wolf, Ben Brombaugh, Brady Vaughn, Jack Beverly, Brayden Fraasman, and Krayton Morse each scored Additionally, Curtus Moak Jr and Grant Palmer scored two runs each, while Colby Morse was responsible for three of the team's 14 runs. The Shawnee batters were not able to score against Foster McDonald and Cole McMichael, both of whom they faced during this game. 

Lincoln Trail will return at home on April 25th for a double header against John A. Logan. Game starts at 1pm.
