Lincoln Trail Claims Lake Land Series

Lincoln Trail College hosted the first game of their series against Lake Land on Friday, April 28th. The game was back and forth down to the very end. The game was tied 1-1 going into the fourth inning when Lake Land brought in a run, but Lincoln Trail quickly answered with five runs of their own. In the later innings of the game, it was Lincoln Trail's turn to play defense and hold Lake Land from scoring. Going into the bottom of the ninth inning, the game was tied 8-8. Brayden Fraasman was on third base, patiently waiting to make the game-winning run. Colin Horneman stepped up to the plate, and with a sacrifice fly out, Horneman drove in a walk for Fraasman to make the winning run. Lincoln Trail players made great contributions to the game, with runs scored by Grant Palmer, Jack Beverly, Colin Horneman, Ben Brombaugh, Oscar Pegg, and Sammy Kestranek. Kestranek had three throughout the game. In game one, the Lakers faced Jake Lynch, Luke Shelton, and Mitchell Henneberry

The Lincoln Trail College baseball team traveled to Lake Land on Saturday, April 29th, and brought home both wins of the day. Game two of this series concluded with a score of 7 runs for the Statesmen and 2 runs for the Lakers. The Statesmen had a great start, with a 4-0 lead going into the eighth inning. They extended their lead to seven runs in the eighth inning, runs coming from several players during the game. Colin Horneman and Jack Beverly scored one run each, while Grant Palmer scored two runs, and Krayton Morse had three runs throughout the game. Both Morse and Beverly had a home run during game two of the series. Lake Land responded in the eighth inning with two runs. However, it wasn't enough for them to catch up to the Statesmen's dominant performance. Batters for this game faced Drew Fieger, Charlie Branch, and Jackson Pittman.

Lincoln Trail then faced off against Lake Land for the final game of the series, and finished with another strong win of 8-4. This victory marks a great end to a successful series for the Statesmen. Batters for the Lakers found themselves up against Foster McDonald and Eric Rawlings, both of whom put in a great effort to help secure the win. Single runs were made by Colby Morse, Colin Horneman, Collin Sweeney, and Ben Brombaugh, all necessary in securing the win. Grant Palmer and Brayden Fraasman both contributed 2 runs each, and one of Fraasman's runs was a Home Run. All of the team's contributions were there to bring home yet another sweep.

Lincoln Trail will be back in action at home for a doubleheader against SWIC, Tuesday, May 2nd.
