Lincoln Trail College Announces 2023-2024 Cheerleading Tryouts

Robinson, Ill. - Lincoln Trail College is excited to announce that the 2023-2024 Cheerleading Tryouts will be held in person on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at the LTC Sports Center. Registration will begin at 9:00 am.

The tryouts are open to all registered full-time students at LTC beginning in the fall of 2023, and current LTC students who are returning to the team or trying out. The applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for the 2023-24 Cheer Team.

Applicants are required to submit an application, proof of current 2022 physical, proof of insurance, current LTC identification or acceptance letter and/or college ID#, and a picture when registering for the tryouts. New applicants must also provide one letter of recommendation from current or former coach, employer, and/or school official.

The tryouts will include various cheer skills requirements such as sideline/dance choreography, jumps, tumbling, and floor cheer. Additionally, there will be one interview question presented to each person before the floor portion of the tryout. Interviews will be conducted by the judges.

Cheerleading practices are usually held 2 to 3 nights a week and are mandatory. The cheerleaders perform at all Men's and Women's home basketball games and participate in local community festivals, parades, and events. The cheer team also participates in fundraisers throughout the year and is expected to attend a summer cheer camp if scheduled.
