Back On The Winning Trail

Union, MO - On Saturday the 2nd your Statesmen traveled to Union, MO to take on the Falcons of East Central College. The Statesmen were looking to bounce back from their recent loss to Rose Hullman IT. 

They started the game with intensity and pressured ECC from the whistle. Several shots were sent wide to start the game before #29 Takuto Nishide fired a clearance into the far post with his weaker foot putting the Statesmen up 1-0. Intensity stayed high as the Statesmen scored two back to back goals in the 30 and 32nd minute by one of the best attacking duos in the country as #9 Guilherme Melchiori finished two excellent passes by #19 Harumi Yunaiyama , to put the statesmen up 3-0 where they would never look back! 

The second half started with a blur as #21 Benjamin Pena would score within four minutes of the start to make it 4-0.  

The Statesmen were able to possess the ball and effectively finish the game scoring again in the 69th and 77th minute with goals by #10 Ryosuke Miyata and #19 Harumi Yunaiyama assisted by #24 Amin Garcia and #18 Inchun Han . 

Intensity continued to rise as ECC desperately looked for an opportunity to get on the score sheet but #1 Gonzalo Onrubia was solid again in goal making several key saves in the closing minutes to keep the clean sheet and ensure your Statesmen left Union with a solid 6–0 victory.  

The Statesmen's next game will be Tuesday against Parkland College at 4 p.m.
