Lincoln Trail College Athletics Dominates Competition on April 20, 2023

Lincoln Trail College Athletics had an incredible performance on April 20, 2023, as the softball team dominated in a triple header and the baseball team won against Shawnee.

In the first game of the softball triple header against Wabash Valley College, Lincoln Trail College secured a 5-4 victory. Mikayla Schooling, Katy Crail, Lilly Foster, and Kaitlyn Boerngen contributed to the scorelines, with Delainey Shorter smashing a home run to bring the game home. Game two proved a harder challenge, with the team being down five in the middle of the game. However, the team pulled together and fought back, securing a narrow victory of 9-8. Halle Ellis, Alexia Heafner, Addie Brasier, Lilly Foster, and Kaitlyn Boerngen all contributed points. With Tori Linnenkamp and Mikayla Schooling both getting two runs to secure this victory. In the final game of the triple header, Lincoln Trail College once again demonstrated their strive to beat Wabash Valley by winning 4-2. Mikayla Schooling, Delainey Shorter, Stormy Kinnard, and Caeden Bennett all scored, bringing the game to a successful conclusion.

Lincoln Trail Baseball kept the momentum going for the day. The Statesmen faced Shawnee, run Ruling their opponents 12-2. Colby Morse, Jack Beverly, Ben Brombaugh, and Krayton Morse all scored runs, with Oscar Pegg and Brayden Fraasman also contributing. Collin Sweeney, Grant Palmer, and Sammy Kestranek delivered strong performances, scoring two runs apiece.
