Statesmen Claim Rend Lake Series

The Lincoln Trail College Statesmen traveled to Ina, Illinois to compete against the Rend Lake Warriors in a thrilling game of baseball on Thursday, March 23. The game was intense and closely contested, with both teams showcasing their skills on the field. Unfortunately, the Statesmen were unable to come out on top, suffering a heartbreaking 0-1 loss to the Warriors.
 
The Statesmen had the opportunity to redeem themselves on March 26. Both teams came to play, but Lincoln Trail ultimately emerged victorious with a final score of 10-3 in the first game. Although Rend Lake started off strong with two runs in the first inning, Lincoln Trail was able to quickly counter with three runs of their own. From there, Lincoln Trail maintained their lead and continued to score throughout the game.
The team's success was due in large part to the impressive performances of Grant Palmer, Colby Morse, Brayden Fraasman, Krayton Morse, Collin Sweeney, Ben Brombaugh (x2), and Oscar Pegg (x2), who all contributed to the team's 10 runs. Series stood at 1-1 with one final game remaining that day.
 
The Statesmen dominated the second game with a final score of 16-2, showcasing an impressive display of skill and teamwork. Rend Lake once again started off strong with two runs in the first inning, putting pressure on the Statesmen. However, the Statesmen quickly responded with five runs to take the lead. From there on, it was all Lincoln Trail, Colby Morse and Brayden Fraasman contributed to the score. The Statesmen's offense was on fire, with Krayton Morse and Colin Horneman leading the charge with three runs each scored. Grant Palmer, Jack Beverly, Ben Brombaugh and Oscar Pegg all scoring two runs to keep increasing their lead.
 
The Statesmen's defense was equally impressive, holding the Warriors to just two runs throughout the game. The team's pitchers throughout the day Drew Fieger, Matt McMahan, and Cole McMichael were able to consistently throw strikes and keep Rend Lake's batters off balance.
 
Overall, it was a great day for the Lincoln Trail College Statesmen, who claimed the series against Rend Lake. The Statesmen will look to carry this momentum into their next game.
