Maynard Takes Over As Head Coach of Baseball Team

Collin Maynard has been named the new Head Baseball Coach at Lincoln Trail College following the departure of Kevin Bowers. Maynard has served as the Pitching Coach for the Statesmen for the past two seasons.

"I'm extremely excited about this opportunity," said Maynard. "I can't thank Kevin Bowers enough for how he's prepared me for this role. I'm ready to get to work and I'm ready for an exciting and fun season. Furthermore, my wife Mikayla and I are ecstatic to remain a part of this community."

Bowers has spent more than 20 years at Lincoln Trail College. He came to LTC in 2002 as an assistant under then-coach Mitch Hannahs. He became the Head Coach of the Statesmen in 2010. In his tenure with LTC, Bowers has been a part of four teams that have advanced to the NJCAA Super Regionals, three teams that have claimed conference championships, and three teams that have earned Region 24 titles. He's seen over 175 of his players move on to NCAA Division I institutions and 23 have signed professional contracts. He's coached four NJCAA All-Americans.

Maynard says he wants to continue the tradition of success fostered by Bowers. "The accountability and success will remain. Coach Bowers has been a great mentor and has taught me a lot. He has so much experience and has had so much success. Learning from him has been invaluable and has helped me grow as a coach. I want to continue the traditions of excellence that have been here for so long."

Continued academic success is one of the hallmarks Maynard plans to focus on. In Bowers' time with LTC, none of his teams have had a GPA below 3.0. The 2006 team was the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year. "Academic success will be a main focus for me," said Maynard. "We've always placed a heavy focus on academics and that will not change."

Maynard says his top priority as Head Coach is to work to better the lives of his players. "We want to make them better baseball players, but we also want to make these young men better versions of themselves off the field as well. We're here to prepare them for their life after baseball; it's one of the most important things we do. That starts in the classroom."

Maynard is a graduate of Austin College, where he was a four-year letterman as a pitcher. He received a Master of Science in Sport Management from the University of West Georgia, where he served as an assistant prior to joining the Statesmen. Additionally, he served as an assistant at McPherson College and was the Head Coach of the Forestbrook Mallards of the Beach Collegiate Baseball League. He was the BCBL's Coach of the Year in 2020.
