Bio

The 2021-2022 season will be assistant coach Collin Maynard’s first year at Lincoln Trail.  Maynard will fill the role of pitching coach for the Statesmen. 

Maynard comes to Lincoln Trail from the University of West Georgia Wolves where he spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach.  

In Maynard’s first season as pitching coach at West Georgia, the Wolves pitching staff recorded a 4.39 ERA, which was an improvement of .91 from the previous year.  During this 2020 season, the pitching staff averaged one strikeout per inning while maintaining a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.13.  Maynard also helped guide relief pitcher Sawyer Steele on an All-American pace prior to the Covid19 shutdown.  Steele recorded 22 strikeouts in 15 innings with only three walks, posting a 0.60 ERA and going 2-0 with five saves in eight appearances.  Maynard also coached starting pitcher Ryan Parker to a 2.92 ERA in 24.2 innings with 28 strikeouts and 10 walks.  During this 2020 season, the NCAA DII Wolves baseball program was ranked as high as 17th in the nation. 

In the 2021 season, the Wolves were ranked 25th in the nation in the NCAA DII preseason poll and received a birth in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.  Throughout the course of the year, Maynard guided freshman pitcher Jack Rasmussen to multiple freshman of the week awards.  Maynard also coached sophomore relief pitcher Peyton Berry to a season where he recorded 50 strikeouts in only 36 innings.   

Prior to the University of West Georgia, Maynard spent time as an assistant coach at McPherson College.  He has been Head Coach of the Forestbrook Mallards for the past 2 summers in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League.  In the summer of 2020, Maynard was voted Beach Collegiate Baseball League Coach of the Year. 

Maynard was a 4-year letterman as a pitcher for Austin College, graduating in 2019.  He subsequently received a Master’s of Science in Sports Management from the University of West Georgia in 2021.
