Olivia Bright Commits to Play at IUPUC

Lincoln Trail College is proud to announce that softball player Olivia Bright has committed to play softball at Indiana University Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) following her graduation from Lincoln Trail College. This marks an exciting chapter in Olivia's athletic and academic journey, and she is looking forward to representing her new team at her next location.

Olivia, who plays an utility role, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming spring season after being sidelined during the fall due to an injury. She said, "I'm looking forward to being able to play again in the spring. After being out all fall due to injury, I'm happy I'll be able to take the field with my team again. I think that we are going to do really well in the spring and compete with some of the top teams in our conference."

One aspect of Olivia's journey is that her college commitment provides her the opportunity to play without the added pressure of trying to secure a spot at the next level. Olivia shared her experience, stating, "I think that it does help being committed in a sense because I can play without the added pressure of trying to do well so that I can play at the next level. Last year I put too much pressure on myself to succeed, and I struggled. This season, I see myself being successful because I can play the game for fun."

Olivia also expressed her gratitude towards Head Coach Erica Arnold, stating, "Coach Arnold was dedicated in helping me not only become a better player but in finding my next school as well. I couldn't thank her enough for everything she has done for me!" She further shared her excitement about joining IUPUC, stating, "When I walked through campus and talked with Coach Stowers, I knew that it is where I wanted to go. I know that she is going to push me not only on the field but academically as well."

Coach Arnold shared her excitement for Olivia's commitment to IUPUC, stating, "I am so excited for Liv! She works hard day in and day out and is very deserving of this opportunity! She is a phenomenal teammate and gives 110% at everything she does. She recently had surgery and spent the fall doing whatever she could to help the team off the field. She attended every practice and game and stepped up without having to be asked. I think that speaks volumes about her character. IUPUC got a good one!"

For her fellow Statesmen, Olivia has some valuable advice, "If I could give the upcoming Statesmen's one piece of advice, I would say take it all in and give it your all. For some, this is their last two years of playing softball. Coach Arnold will give you everything you need to succeed, so take every opportunity and put in the work so that you are successful at LT."

Olivia Bright's commitment to IUPUC is a demonstration of her dedication, hard work, and the support of her coaches and teammates at Lincoln Trail College.
