Robinson, IL — After a road trip to St. Louis, MO, the Lady Statesmen were back at home to face the Lady Loggers of Lincoln Land Community College. On a day where the skies were clear and the sun was shining, the Lady Statesmen decided to make it rain, as they poured in the goals to take a commanding home victory.
The Lady Statesmen took charge of the game in the first half with #9 Celine Hernandez opened the scoring for the Lady Statesmen, as she put the ball in the net on a pass that came from #7 Eduarda Queiroz , who went on to have four assists in this match. Later in the first half, #2 Madison McKenzie and #10 Guadalupe Amicone each added a goal, which were both also assisted by #7 Eduarda Queiroz. The Lady Statesmen were comfortable at half time with a 3-0 lead.
Despite the comfortable lead at half, the Lady Statesmen were not complacent, they came into the second half firing off some more goals. #12 Kearsty Nielson was able to find an open #10 Guadalupe Amicone, who put the ball into the net for her second goal of the day, to open the second half scoring. Shortly after, #10 Guadalupe Amicone provided the assist on the next goal to #2 Madison McKenzie, who also scored a brace on the day. #12 Kearsty Nielson decided to join in on the brace action scoring the next two goals for the Lady Statesmen, which were assisted by #7 Eduarda Queiroz and #9 Celine Hernandez. Having provided four assists on the day, #7 Eduarda Queiroz joined in on scoring action, as she was able to find the back of the net on a pass from #9 Celine Hernandez. A solid team effort was completed as the defense held on strong and allowed no goals.
The Lady Statesmen are now 4-2-1 on the season and are back at home to face Wabash Valley College on September 20, 2023, for their final home game of the season.
