Madison McKenzie Signs to University of Rio Grande Post Graduation from Lincoln Trail

Madison McKenzie, soccer player from Lincoln Trail College, officially signs to further her academic and athletic career at the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande in Ohio.

McKenzie's decision to join the RedStorm comes after careful consideration and a deep connection to both the soccer program and the educational opportunities offered at Rio Grande. She expressed her excitement about the upcoming chapter in her life, citing the welcoming environment and strong programs as major factors in her decision-making process.

"The coach reached out to me after watching my highlights," said McKenzie, reflecting on the recruitment process. "My cousin is also going there so I knew about the school enough to look into it." This personal connection, combined with the coach's interest, played a significant role in solidifying her decision.

McKenzie also highlighted the invaluable support she received at Lincoln Trail College. "The coaches at Lincoln Trail gave us very useful tools and places to put our highlights for recognition and recruiting," she noted, emphasizing the role her former institution played in her journey to Rio Grande.

Upon visiting Rio Grande and meeting the soccer team, McKenzie felt an immediate connection. "I clicked with the girls on the soccer team right away when I met them," she shared. "The soccer and early childhood education program is amazing." She also stated "Family is a big impact for me, it's going to be nice being close to my family again. We all are equally excited for that."

At the University of Rio Grande, McKenzie plans to pursue her passion for soccer while furthering her education in early childhood education. She is eager to contribute her skills and dedication to the RedStorm's soccer program and looks forward to excelling both on the field and in the classroom.

During her time at Lincoln Trail, she started 16 out of 17 games played, 4 goals and 5 assists.

Her advice is, "Never doubt yourself. There will always be opportunities in your life but it's up to you to make a change."
